Kongosanmai-in金剛三昧院
Shukubo (Temple Guesthouse) Information
This temple was founded by Masako Hojo, the wife of Yoritomo Gen, who opened the Kamakura Shogunate, with the founder of the Rinzai sect, Eizai, as the first mountain to mourn the Bodhisattva of Yoritomo and the third generation Shogun.
The Goji Nyorai statue is enshrined at the national treasure Tahoto, which is also an important cultural property. It is reported that Yoritomo's hair is stored in the middle around the waist of Dainichi Nyorai. (Registered as a World Heritage Site in July 2004)
