Saimon-in西門院
Shukubo (Temple Guesthouse) Information
During the Enkyu Era (more than 900 years ago), it was opened in order to teach priests. In the Kamakura period, it was granted the title of Saimon-in from an Imperial Prince of the Emperor Gotoba, which it still has to this day. During the Tensho era, with the support of Hideyoshi Sekishiro, he worked with Kokushio Sojin on the construction of the Great Buddha Hall in Kyoto and Kannon-do in Ishiyama.
Due to such a relationship, Kiyosoji Temple in Awa and Kanoyama Jinnoji in Kazusa became to be placed under the jurisdiction of this shukubo, and became a temple associated with the Boso daimyo.
