Shukubo (Temple Guesthouse) Information
This temple guesthouse was founded by Kobo Daishi's leading disciple, Shinzen Daitoku. Motota Motomoto, who was writing for Kobo Daishi, originally, from long ago the southwest direction was considered to be the back gate, for disaster relief Shinzen Daitoku secretly worshiped here.
Later, when the Emperor Toba worshiped at the temple and found the temple to be more effective, this guesthouse was determined to be a royal temple, and during the Edo era, various daimyo from Oita, Nakagawa, Okayama, Awaji and Saitama also visited, being the only times that the shrine was lived in.
